Prophet Muhammad said,
"Attend the khutbah and come close to the imam, because indeed there are people who stay away until they end up in heaven even though they enter it." [Narrated by Abu Daud from Samuroh bin Jundub, Ash-Shahihah: 365]
Some Lessons:
1. Reproaches against those who do not hurry to attend Friday sermons and prayers. Abu At-Thayyib Rahimahullah said,
"In this hadith, there is a humiliation for the actions of people who like to be late and reproach for their stupidity because they have lowered themselves from the high of practice to the low." ['Aunul Ma'bud, 3/457]
2. Delaying oneself in attending Friday sermons and prayers is the reason someone ends up going to heaven, it can also mean that his degree in heaven is lowered.
3. Orders to hurry up to attend the sermon before the preacher ascends the pulpit.
4. The importance of listening to the sermon, listening and understanding it well (if the sermon is based on the arguments of the Al-Qur'an and As-Sunnah according to the understanding of the Salaf), don't sleep, and don't do anything in vain. This is the purpose of the command to approach the priest.
5. The priority of Friday prayers in the first row. This is also the intent of the command to approach the imam.
Narrated by Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosques to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon." (Sahih al-Bukhari)
