Every Friday after the congregational prayer, an imam (mosque) and his 11-year-old son have a schedule to distribute Islamic books, including the book "At-Thoriq Ilal Jannah" (The Path to Paradise). They distribute them in their neighborhood on the outskirts of Amsterdam.
However, one day, heavy rain poured down on the city at a very cold temperature.
The son prepared himself by wearing several layers of clothing to ward off the cold. After getting ready, he said to his father, "Oh, my father, I am ready."
His father asked, "Ready for what?"
He replied, "To distribute books as usual."
The father said, "It's very cold outside, not to mention the heavy rain."
The son responded with an amazing answer, "But, indeed, many people are walking towards hell out there under the pouring rain."
The father was taken aback by his son's response and said, "But I won't go out in this weather."
Finally, the son asked for permission to go out alone. The father paused for a moment and eventually gave permission.
The son took some books from his father to distribute and said, "Thank you, my dear father."
Under the heavy rain, accompanied by the biting cold, the child carried those books, which he had wrapped in a medium-sized plastic bag to protect them from getting wet. He distributed books to every person he encountered. Not only that, but he also approached several houses to spread the books.
Two hours passed, and only one book remained in his hands. However, no more people were passing through that alley. Finally, he decided to visit a house across the street to deliver the last book.
Upon reaching the front of the house, he rang the bell, but there was no response. He tried again several times, but the result was the same. When he was about to leave, it felt like someone was holding him back, so he tried once more, accompanied by a small knock on his hand. Actually, he didn't understand why he was so curious about that house.
The door slowly opened, revealing a very sad-looking old lady. The lady said, "Can I help you, my child?"
The boy said (with gleaming eyes and a smile that illuminated the world), "I apologize if I disturb you, but I want to convey that Allah loves and cares for you very much. Then I want to give you this book. Inside it explains about Allah the Almighty, the obligations of a servant, and some ways to earn His pleasure."
A week passed, and as usual, the imam delivered a sermon at the mosque. After the sermon, he invited the congregation to consult with him. Faintly, from the women's row, an old woman said, "No one knows me here, and no one has visited me before. A week ago, I was not a Muslim, and the thought had never crossed my mind even slightly. My husband passed away, leaving me alone in this world."
And she began telling her story of meeting that child. "At that time, the weather was very cold, accompanied by heavy rain. I decided to end my life. I was deeply saddened, and no one cared about me. So, there was no reason for me to live. I climbed onto a chair and put a rope around my neck, which I had prepared earlier. When I was about to jump, I heard the sound of a bell. I paused for a moment and thought, 'I'll be gone in a little while anyway.' But the sound of the bell and the knocking on the door became louder. In my heart, I said, 'Who would bother visiting me? No one will knock on my door.'
I released the rope that was ready to end my life and hurried to the door. When I opened the door, I saw a little child with a gaze and a smile that I had never seen before. I cannot describe his appearance to you.
His gentle words touched my lifeless heart and revived it. He said, 'Madam, I came to convey that Allah the Almighty loves and cares for you very much.'
Then, he gave me this book (the Book of the Path to paradise).
That little angel suddenly appeared to me and disappeared in the pouring rain that day. After closing the door, I immediately read the book from my little angel until I finished it. In an instant, I removed the rope and the chair that had been waiting for me because I would no longer need them.
Now, look at me. I am extremely happy because I have come to know my true Lord. I intentionally came to you based on the address stated in the book to express my gratitude to all of you who sent my little angel at the right time. Thus, I am freed from the eternal fire of hell."
Tears flowed from everyone uncontrollably, and the mosque resounded with sobs and shouts of "Allahu akbar" (Allah is the greatest).
The imam (the father of the child) approached the place where the little angel had sat and embraced him tightly, while his tears burst uncontrollably before the congregation. It was truly touching, and perhaps no father could be prouder of his child than the imam felt at that moment.
