"As a Chinese person in Indonesia, at that time the majority were Muslims," Melissa said. This event made her feel that this religion was the source of her and her family's troubles.
Hating Islam
As Melissa grew up, she nurtured her passion for gaming from a young age. Although active in her place of worship, she still had a negative view of Islam. In fact, she had intentions to change the faith of her Muslim gaming friend.
But her plans didn't go as expected. Her friend changed the way Melissa looked at Islam. She began to question her own beliefs. Why was she still eating pork when her religious book prohibited it?

Through the spiritual journey she embarked on since 2012, Melissa finally decided to convert to Islam in 2016. Islam gave her peace and made her a more thoughtful and logical person.
"For me, Islam is a religion that makes me think. Its teachings are logical," she confidently stated.
